Sales at U.S. retailers climbed more than the expected 0.3 percent in July. Despite higher borrowing rates, turmoil in the housing market and rising energy prices, the American consumer still spends.

According to Wal-Mart and Home Depot numbers, the consumer is running out of steam.

Don't expect the consumer to continue carrying the economy. They are being hit on all fronts.
